My Story...
Imagine becoming a Mom at the young age of 20 while being in the final year of school.
This. Was. My. Life.
I was blessed with a beautiful daughter and I was set on making her proud by doing something with my life.
I was determined to do whatever it took to live my best life and to go after my dreams.
But life quickly became too busy and I got swallowed in the chaos of it all.
No time for self-care.
No me time.
Health and fitness was nowhere on my radar, but they were soon to be...
Years later fitness became more consistent in my life.
I also discovered I liked clean eating.
I worked out safely during my entire 2nd pregnancy.
I was on mat leave with my 2nd babe when my dad suddenly passed away within a month of being diagnosed with cancer.
Grief stricken, I was adamant to find a healthy way to cope.
I dragged myself out of the house and back to the gym. It had been 7 months since I had been there after having my son.
Thankfully, the gym and lifting weights was exactly what I needed.
It gave me the time and space to let go of the emotions I had bottled inside. The bonus was that I really enjoyed it AND it released my stress.
I quickly became an avid fitness pro, and in the best shape of my life .
Until a car accident changed everything.
All of a sudden I had major back pain.
ALL THE TIME.
I could no longer do the things I loved to do.
I felt robbed.
I quickly became angry, depressed and frustrated.
To make matters worse, while getting getting out of bed one morning, I heard and felt a loud POP in my back.
I instantly fell to the floor.
My legs and feet went numb.
I felt tingles running up my spine.
Tests showed that two discs at L3-L4 were torn AND on top of that I had spondylolisthesis at L4-L5.
Hello rock bottom.
It was a very long road to recovery and adapting to my new normal wasn’t easy to say the least.
It was more than two years before I even started to get some consistent movement again. I did a lot of rehab and STILL had constant pain in my lower back.
But I am a fierce Mama and was determined to keep going.
I recited my mantra “Never give up” daily.
Progress seemed painstakingly slow.
The very little movement I started out with, slowly and steadily I began to heal.
Regaining some strength gave me the confidence to keep going.
One. day. at. a. time.
As my inner world healed (through positive mindset, focus, commitment, and determination) I got stronger outwardly... my body healed!
My personal experiences have been powerful teachers. I have become very attuned to listening to myself.
I embrace challenges as opportunities.
Now I love to show others how to do the same.
Love and gratitude
